IBOGA Myths & Truths

You will already have seen that the majority of the information we offer here on our website differs greatly from the repeated information and formats that you see on most iboga websites. That is because our information comes from the source, the  first nations people, the Babongo's, the originators of the tradition of BWETE and the people that shared their sacrament of IBOGA with others.

Here we work towards dispelling popular myths about Iboga that are starting to infiltrate the western construct known as the internet. This information is perpetuated as people continually plagiarize and repeat other peoples material without any consideration of whether it is indeed true. Since the majority of people who offer IBOGA in the west have all been trained in Gabon by one of two agencies, they all repeat the same stories that are simply not true. Sometimes, the person telling the story does not even realise that it does not have any basis in truth, in which case this means they are very far removed from the source of knowledge. This misinformation is  well spread and people take these myths as a fact - we have people coming to our centre and repeating these myths.

As servants to the greater whole, we work towards dispelling western misinformation about IBOGA through our connection to MBOKA A NZAMBE (The Universal Village of God)  and the 7 Babongo Villages we work to support in DIBOIS.
Here we share with you also the truths, as told to us by the Babongo Pygmies.

MYTH #1 : IBOGA was discovered  by a Porcupine whom ingested the root. The porcupine in turn was unintentionally ingested by a Babongo woman.

Picture
This  a canard,  and not true. It is a strange fairytale that was given to the West and when it was told to our Babongo family, they roared with laughter. IBOGA has always existed with the Babongos, they did not "unintentionally" find it, this is belittling to the culture and the true story has so much more meaning and divine implications for those who see it.  IBOGA is a tool of creation and it is told that it bought the Babongos into existance.  IBOGA was first eaten by the Mandril  tribe who used it to sculpt their psyches, consciously evolving themselves into the Babongo Pygmies.  IBOGA was used as the perfect evolution tool to go from primate (Mandrill), who was an integral part of nature,  to a man who was now at one with nature, all animals, the forest and GOD, TETA NZIAMBE KANA.

So we see the story of evolution existed first with the Babongo Pygmies, but it was stolen and fragmented by western researchers who also twisted this  knowledge to say that we are all at odds  nature and that only the fittest will survive.

The traditional narration tells of the evolution of consciousness in its physical form. We are meant to continue this process but modern society is in such a disconnected state from both creation, nature and GOD, that our next steps in evolution may never happen.  IBOGA is a chance for us to reconnect to our origins of consciousness  so that we may see that we all are all one tribe.

NOTE: I think the porcupine story potentially shows how disconnected modern forms of "BWITI" are from the original forms of BWETE such as DISSOUMBA and MIOBE. SA Majesty told us that originally the Babongos were vegetarian so they would not have eaten a porcupine, which is not the case now as they themselves also become discnnected from their origins and are losing parts of their forest to chinese logging.

MYTH #2 : The Pygmies took IBOGA to enhance their hunting skills

The Babongo's  did not take IBOGA so that they became better hunters. In fact, Babongo Pygmies were initially vegetarian and so did not hunt for animals per say, rather they used Iboga to speak with the spirits of the forest and ancestry. They knew the frequencies of the forest as did the forest know their respective vibration through the connection to God via Iboga. The Babongo's took IBOGA to retain their connection to TETA NZIAMBE KANA (GOD) while evolving into a physical species at one with their creation..

MYTH #3 : "BWITI is the Study of Life"

Picture

This phrase has been recited, quoted, plagiarized, repeated - without much thought about what it actually means, or if it is in fact true. If you are studying life then you have placed yourself in the position of the observer. You are in fact fragmented from life. If you ask anyone from Mboka A Nzambe they will say BWETE IS life. BWETE IS living. It is not a fragmentary study of it. To be BWETE, you must live it and embrace spirituality in all facets of your life.

LIFE IS LIVING IN PROCESS.

You cannot learn anything from studying. You will only learn to repeat the information, as it is with the use of this phrase. True knowledge comes only from direct experience. From a true active application and participation This is what Iboga teaches. This is why life is.

MYTH #4 : IBOGA is the GRANDFATHER plant

IBOGA is NOT the Grandfather plant. You often hear  "Ayahuasca is the Grandmother plant and IBOGA is the Grandfather plant".

IBOGA is the perfect union of both the masculine (BWETE) and the feminine (OMBUDI), the Sun - Yah KOMBE, and the moon,- Yah NGONDE. IBOGA is both male and female, grandfather and grandmother. Everything in BWETE & OMBUDI  is unity. because IBOGA provides a connection to TETA NZIAMBE KANA, to Consciousness, to God, to All That Is, The one Divine Light, which is Everything is United.
